L.A.’s Best Walking Tours and Sightseeing Values

Senior Groups

So, you're thinking that walking tours aren't suitable for seniors. Wrong! Red Line Tours does plenty of senior tours and they LOVE us! Still doubting us? Read on...

Duration: a manageable 1-1/4 hours on city tours and 45 minutes on landmark tours. When we started our company we took every detail into consideration including the physical limitations a walking tour may have for people of all ages particularly seniors. We tailored our city tours so that they were 1-1/4 hour explorations rather than the 2-hours or more people often associate with walking tours. Our in-depth "behind-the-scenes" landmark tours of the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels (largest Cathedral in America) and the historic Biltmore Hotel are only 45-minutes long.

Distance: compact courses rich in history. Our tours are compact yet are full of eye opening visuals and tantalizing stories. Our Inside Historic Hollywood Tour, for example, covers a short 2 block area but is long on incredible things to see.

Pace: leisurely walking. We're not running a marathon here! Our tours are leisurely walking. We want our guests to take in the sights provided by this amazing, and often misunderstood, city...and the sounds, including the engaging narration provided by our talented tour guides.

Audibility: "Live-Audio" solves the problem. Have you ever taken a walking tour with buses passing by, construction crews making their racket and general street noise all around you? We have, and that's how we came up with the concept of Live-Audio. Our guests wear a "walkman-like" headset receiver while the guide wears a headset microphone. The system operates on a low-frequency FM radio system completely eliminating the problem of street noise. What's even better - our hard of hearing guests can use the system as a hearing aid!

Reminiscence: great stories of Hollywood and Downtown's "Golden Era." Red Line Tours is LA's only daily operating walking tour company. We specialize in telling the stories that make this city great including the authentic history of Hollywood and the tales of America's "other" Broadway in Downtown Los Angeles, which many people don't realize is the largest historic theatre district in America. Through words and visuals we recreate Raymond Chandler's noir Los Angeles as portrayed in films like "The Big Sleep." We also reveal how Sid Grauman's colorful, imaginative and fantasy-filled vision influenced an era of movie palaces across America beginning with the famous Egyptian and Chinese Theatres.
