Frequently Asked Questions
Things are not always what they appear from the outside...
How long are the tours?
Our daily walking tours are 75 to 90 minutes long depending on the tour. Private tours can be longer or shorter depending on the needs of the group.
Is the walking difficult?
Our tours are a normal walking pace. We tell people that if you can walk the length of a shopping mall you can easily walk our tours.
Where does the bus go?
Red Line Tours conducts walking tours so buses are not used. We do, however, offer a few tour packages that include 3rd party bus tours. See our Value Packages menu for some ideas on tours that are conducted by bus.
Can you pick us up from the hotel?
Our regular walking tour program does not include hotel pick-up, however , if you plan on booking a group of 15 or more we will be glad to begin the tour from your hotel (if your hotel is proximate to the tour route - please call for information). Our Hollywood Movie Star Experience includes a pick up from your hotel. Call or e-mail us if you would like more information on group sales or the Hollywood Movie Star Experience.
Are credit cards accepted?
Yes, we accept Visa, MasterCard, AMEX and Discover Card.
When are the tours offered?
Please see the individual pages for our daily walking tours.
How much are the tours?
Our tours retail at $24.95 for adults, $18 students & seniors, $15 children (9 to 15), children under 9 are free. We offer wholesale rates to tour operators and group sales agents.
Do you offer discounts?
We offer discounts through AAA, KCRW Fringe Benefits Program, Cruise LA, and LA Inc. the Convention & Visitors Bureau. Please also inquire about discounts for LA residents.
Do I need to make a reservation?
Yes, some tours are by reservation only, while others are not. We strongly advise you call ahead in either case, especially during the busy season.
Are tickets refundable?
All sales are final except in the case we cancel a tour for severe weather.
Are your tours handicapped accessible?
Generally yes. However we are at the effect of the city, its sidewalks, weather and terrain. Some buildings we go into are older and require some maneuvering to get through their ADA access routes. One should note that the pace of our tours cannot be slowed as we are bound to time constraints. If you or a member of your group has a handicap it would be best to speak with a member of the Red Line Tours staff before you decide to take the tour.
Are multilingual translations available for your tours?
Currently we offer our tours in English to the general public. Through the use of our "Live-Audio" system we can offer group tours of 20 or more in other languages with your interpreter. From time to time we do have guides on staff who can offer group tours for 20 or more persons in foreign languages. Call us for more information.
What if it rains?
Tours are conducted rain or shine, however we will offer a rain check for another date in case of heavy rain.
Where do I park?
Parking is at your own discretion and parking rates vary greatly depending on the location. In Hollywood there is parking available for as little as $2 in the Hollywood & Highland Center. In Downtown Los Angeles surface or structure parking can vary from $5 and up depending. See the page for a specific tour for more ideas on parking.
